This course discusses the rain screen system for exterior facades using porcelain tile or solid surface. This course is filled with many different important codes and major components of a ventilated facade system. The beginning of the course discusses the importance of a ventilated system and cladding such as drainage, ventilation and thermal solution. The health effects are later shown when talked about in the ventilation process because of its advantages to having a better air exchange between buildings and the solution for melting moisture away. Later in the course we discuss the differences and importance of single-element protection and multiple-element protection. The course is filled with many different. Lastly the course is filled with many different health advantages such as things that are environmentally friendly as well as energy saving.

  Ignacio is an architect with over 20 years of experience in designing buildings of varied sizes and types. Before founding his firm in 2009, he worked with the well-known Barcelona architect Albert Viaplana, where he gained invaluable experience in developing and constructing several high-profile public projects. After that, Ignacio worked with the London office of the award-winning AHMM Architects.

  Since 2014, Ignacio has spearheaded the introduction of porcelain panels for rain-screens through PORCELANOSA Facades for the North American market. In a sea of material sales vendors, Ignacio brings credibility and authority, helping architects achieve their designs. Due to his understanding of architecture, construction, and cost, Ignacio has helped complete more than 150 porcelain facades, and has therefore become a porcelain façade expert of reference nationwide.

  Aaron Seward is Editor-in-Chief of The Architect’s Newspaper. Seward is an award-winning editor whose career has centered on interpreting architecture for the profession and the general public. He was editor of Texas Architect magazine for six years and prior to that held several positions at AN, including executive editor. In addition to those publications, Seward’s writing on architecture, culture, and the built environment has appeared in Architect, Curbed, Domus, Metropolis, and other publications. He has a BA in Literature, Writing and the Arts from The New School for Social Research.
